On June 28, 2000, Wyoming Woolens' U.S. Patent
No. 5,450,63 for our Wyoming Wear fleece socks was confirmed after
four years of legal proceedings. Wyoming Wear feels this ruling
has had great significance in our industry. This key patent was
first issued for our innovative Wyoming Wear fleece socks on September
19, 1995.
All of us at Wyoming Wear were gratified by this judgment because
it reaffirms our position as the inventors of a significant product
in our field.
Until the mid-'80s, there were really no suitable stretch materials
available to make a sock. We solved that problem by inventing
a unique one-, two- and three-piece construction technology. The
result: socks that have gained wide appeal!
Our fleece socks are a sewn product, not knitted. The fabric is
knitted, but our unique construction is sewn with a flat-lock
stitched seam. It begins with a single-piece blank pattern, and
is constructed with dart cuts and flat-lock stitching. That's
why our fleece socks are easy to put on, yet stay up without resorting
to uncomfortable restrictive materials. The primary benefit of
fleece socks, which has made them increasingly popular among young
people, is that they dry very quickly, keeping feet warm and dry
even under adverse conditions. Fleece also provides maximum comfort
in a very technical sock. No other kind of sock can match these
qualities.
